Description
A Coach Bolt, also known as a Carriage Bolt or round-head square-neck bolt, is designed to fasten metal to metal or metal to wood. It features a shallow domed head and a square section beneath the head, which locks into place when inserted through a square hole. This self-locking design allows installation from one side using just a spanner or wrench. Coach bolts are commonly used in timber construction, security fixings, locks, and hinges, where rotation must be prevented and removal is only possible from one side.
